Location of fuel filter for 2012 Toyota avalon

The 2012 Avalon has the fuel filter in the tank and it is not serviced in regular maintenance. EPA mandates made all manufacturers remove replacable fuel filters on newer vehicles to lower carbon emissions released while servicing them.

Canister style filters can become clogged over time if they are not large enough to last the life of the vehicle. Even some of the in tank filters will eventually need to be replaced, requiring fuel pump module disassembly or replacement.
