do i have a transmission problem or a censor problem?

i have a 1990 honda civic lx and about a month a go, i drove it a couple a miles away
from home, then it stopped. the car wouldnt shift but it was still running but when i
applied the gas it wouldnt move. i let it sit for a couple weeks, then i tried to drive it
again and it works finer then before, but i think i might still have that problem. do i need
to change the transmission fluid, or is it a sensor or something preventing the car from
moving.

again i can start my car and drive it, but after a couple of blocks of driving the car, the
car transmission shuts down,but the car is still running.

assuming that the tranny just didn't puke, It could be something as simple as a TCC or torque converter control solenoid. you should get the codes scanned in the computer. obd1 can be a pain, but if its a sensor, it should throw a code.

I was loosing transmission liquid for a Honda civic 2015. After inspection they found out that transmission sensor was broke. The sensor was replaced, and after the car did not have power when accelerating. I drove it about 4 month slowly, and went back to service. They found that transmission fluid was low and fill it with 2 liters. Now it seams running a little better but I am still concern due to their fault the car was driven too long with low transmission liquid. Now I need to find out what issues can occur to the transmission, which components were affected by driving with ow transmission liquid to fix the before the warranty expire.
