Audi won't start - brake sensor? something else?

Asked by Penelope Jan 05, 2020 at 01:56 PM about the 2011 Audi A4 2.0T Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2011 Audi A4 having problems starting, when I press the brake and push the
key in, engine doesn't turn at all but lights/radio/etc all go on.  Did diagnostic
at repair shop to make sure it wasn't the starter, he said code came back
showing weak battery and the battery was 8 yrs old, so the battery was
replaced and they started it up fine they said.  Went to pick it up and the car
wouldn't start again, now they are saying they need to replace the brake
sensor.  I've noticed when I put the key in and leave the car on accessory
mode, after about 15 mins of leaving it there the car starts on first attempt.
Any ideas?

have the igniton checked this time period the key slots were natoriously bad. its also possible to have a bad ground. brake switchs have gone bad but unless your getting a fault for it its not worth replacing. if the brakes illuminate it is likely doing its job. my money is on a bad key cyclinder.
