When I start the explorer the A/C blows hot air for a few minutes and cools but never very cold. Any ideas

It takes a little bit for the AC compressor to cool the car enough to be noticeable. More than that could be low refrigerant level.

Sounds like you need some freon. Probably need to convert to R134 too.
