Ok...I need some sound advice. I have a 1994 Honda Accord EX that I've been told is shot. Is it repairable? Should I just sell it as is or sink more $$ into it? HELP!!

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Drove the car 5 miles while hot. Temp
shot up out of nowhere. Been told it
ran too hot for too long and it's
junked. Oddly, the same mechanic
wants to buy it for diet cheap. Is it
fixable and at what cost? I'm not
mechanically inclined, but I don't
want to get bamboozled. Advise
please!! Thanks!!

All I can add, is that to answer your question, rarely are cars not fixable. It is just a matter of deciding what exactly is wrong, how much to fix it, do you want to fix it, and are you doing it yourself or paying a garage. If it still runs more than likely a bad head gasket or cracked head, which is probably what caused it to heat up, as opposed to the heating up causing the damage. Your mechanic may want it for a quick flip or for a treasure trove of parts. Let us know if it runs, if so, how bad or good(not how hot)
