truck got hot and was sending up smoke

Asked by Valerie Mar 02, 2019 at 03:44 PM about the 2000 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving and my truck, a 2000 Eddie Bauer Expedition, starting jerking at
about 30 then I saw white smoke under the hood. I opened the hood and
found no water in the radiator. The dash never showed that it was
overheating until it got hot enough to quit. I may have been driving about 6
miles before this happened. Cooled off and put in antifreeze and water. Drove
home fine. Back out driving another 6 miles and it started smoking under the
hood again....checked and no water. Smoke coming from what looked like
plugin wires near the right side of the engine. Checked oil and it looks like a
yellowish gooey stuff.

You are seeing a mixture due to the failed gasket allowing water and oil to mix. do NOT drive it.

If you haven't got a lot of $$ into it I would go with something newer and forget it ,

I think your engine is probably toast. Your car is not worth fixing unless you are attached to it and want to keep it. Head Gasket repairs in a can are probably a waste of money but you can try them and see.
