Have the engine scanned to determine why the engine check is on. There are a few reasons the oil pressure light will flash. You may have a seroius problem like low oil pressure. On this engine the the valve lifter will be noisy at low oil pressure..You should not run the engine too long in that condition, remember that when the oil sensor comes on your oil pressure is very low somewhere between 5 and 10 PSI. You can get a pressure gauge and an adapter to check you oil pressure, idling it should not drop below 25 PSI. If in doubt I would change the oil and the oil filter and at the same time replace the oil pressure sensor. If the condition persist then you have an oil pump problem or very bad shell bearings. When buying a used engine the most imporatnt thing to do is to run it, if this is possible, and check the oil pressure, . This will indicate the condition of the all the shell bearings and the lubricating system.
