Question type: Car Customization

a couple of months ago i took out the resonator and fabricated a 2.25 OEM pipe... i have a 2-feet
long repacked muffler (RS5 Bosal) which has a nice quiet sound with a bit of  hoarseness during
idle... but when i cruise to 65kph and up with 4000-4500rpms, it backfires like a fart can and its
really a sound you wouldnt want to wake u up at night... engine runs fine, also got larger 4-1
headers but why does it sound that bad sometimes?

what do i need to change? is it possible something's wrong like pipes are too big or something's loose? i really hate that sound, it's like "sssprrrrraaang!!!" or something like that, it happens during top rev before i shift... when it's idle, it sounds fine and when i step on the gas its not that loud at all..and there arent even any flames coming out even though it sounds like it...

is it happening right when you let off the gas basically? if so its the lack of restriciton without a proper tune. youre engine is cutting fuel delivery when you back off the pedal to quickly and youre hearing it. you need to adjust the dfco table to compensate

how do i adjust it? this happens only on higher rpms and when i downshift to accelerate more...

maybe put your catalytic converter back in and it will stop.. or get a standard

i guess there's something wrong with a 2" diameter catback piping and aftermarket header? i didnt find anything wrong though...

this is how it sounds during idle... but when im driving, there is a sort of loud sputtering... a little louder than the sound of stepping on the gas during idle... http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=397542996926523
