unconnected engine wire
Any idea what this unconnected wire is in my engine? Location is passenger
side at the front of the car, just behind the headlight. Its not for the headlight
power, fyi
It's probably for an option that your vehicle doesn't have. Maybe fog lights for example. My 93 Caprice, which I bought brand new, had a wire for a power antenna and a wire for a washer fluid level sensor. My particular car didn't have those options so the wires were just sitting there unconnected. Hope that helps! Jim
Update: I noticed that the headlight has two connections. The first one is the main power with a wire coming from the battery. The second connection is a wire from the first connection to the second. In this case, the headlight is ONLY plugged in directly to the second connection. The wire comes from the battery and splits off to the headlight and to an in-engine OBD port. The main power port, which is the female port in the picture, has no corresponding wire. The other side headlight, however, has that wire and the secondary port is wired from the first to the second. All this is confusing. I'm going to have it looked at during inspection. For the time being, however, I don't notice anything not working.
