Hyundai loses power suddenly while driving have to turn off key then restart

Asked by GuruHC15L Jul 17, 2019 at 01:11 PM about the 2011 Hyundai Elantra GL FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2011 Hyundai Elantra .  This happens so randomly that the dealer cannot
replicate the problem.  But it shut off suddenly usually upon accelerating
when leaving a traffic light or making a turn.  There is no power to accelerate.
Very dangerous....the instrument panel stays lit ...and one has to turn off the
key.  Put in park ...wait 15 seconds and it will restart and go on like nothing
happened.  Shows no codes for dealer..they replaced a sensor  - crankshaft
angle ..I believe that’s what they called it....

It’s a software problem with those models. The car is going into “Limp Mode”. Have them check for codes again and have them reflash the firmware.
