My power steering belt on my 2000 Ford Escort slipped off the pulleys (last winter and last week) supposedly due to ice build up. It never happened the previous 12 years. Am I missing a splash guard ? Thanks !!! Scott

My power steering belt on my 2000 Ford Escort slipped off the pulleys (last winter and last week) supposedly due to ice build up on the pulleys.  It never happened the previous 12 years.  Am I missing a splash guard ?  Thanks !!!   Scott

I'd be more inclined to think it was a misaligned pulley than ice build up. It could also be a bad belt tensioner. It can't keep the belt properly tensioned so it slips off. It's a $30 part and easy to change, try that and see if the problem persists.
