blower motor problem

new blower motor had no plug so i had to butt splice two wires. do the wires
only go one way or do i have another problem. blower motor is getting very hot

Blower motors are cooled by the air getting drawn through them as they run, possibly it is running backwards. Switching polarity changes motor direction.

In other words if you connect the wires backwards the motor will spin backwards. Hope that helps! Jim
