I have a 2001 honda accord and today my car wouldnt start up , i tried for about 5 mins then i stepped on the gas a little while i was trying to crank it and it finally turned over! My check engine light is on , i just had a few repairs on my car like changing front o2 sensor and brakes and oil change. My car has been hesitating alot in last few months. when i stop at a stop sign for example and then i press on the gas it takes awhile to feel like its normal full power til i step on it kinda hard then it shoots forward to normal. I had 2 codes coming up on my car , the mechanic cleared one when he changed out o2 sensor it was blistered (code had something to do with heating element) but he couldnt clear other code he was hoping in few days it would clear on its own after my oil change p1259 . any suggestions on what i may need this is my only transportation?

i would look into the mass air flow sensor type stuff and make sure that your air filter is clean and that there is nothing in the box with it. but it sounds like it has something to do with the air flow into your throttle body. because though its called a gas pedal the pedal actually introduces air into your throttle body.. the more air the faster it goes so essentially your car is flooding out when you try to start it without pushing the gas pedal which is why it takes so long to start but you should really look into your air intake and flow systems

Vtec is acting up! Vtec controls your timing and thus the reason for hesitation. Your mechanic should have known to change it before releasing it!

Hi, My 2005 Honda Accord has died twice in the last week for no reason. About 3 weeks ago I went to start up my 2009 Honda Civic Sedan lx and lights came on and everything but wouldn't start. On the third time trying to start it none of the lights came on, so I changed the battery. I tried starting it with the new battery, all lights came on perfectly, but it wouldn't turn over. I changed the starter and the car ran fine with no problems for maybe 2 weeks. This morning I was driving down the road when the check engine light came on and the engine suddenly started to rev up uncontrollably. I was able to brake but it was very hard to do because the engine kept revving. Without my foot on the brake the car was going 30 something mph, when I braked and got below 15 I felt a hard downshift.
