Is 200 km too much on a 2005 Cadillac STS?

I’m planning on buying my first car soon and I found a
2005 Cadillac STS with a v8 in it and it’s got almost 200
thousand kms on it. The guys selling it for 1400 and he
told me that it needs $2000 to $3000 in work to pass
safety. Is it worth it?

Suppose you put $3000 in it and it doesn't pass ? You will then become the owner of a $4400 Boat anchor ... For that kind of money you can buy a newer car with much less mileage the runs
