Changing e-85 to regular gas

Asked by Carepech Sep 18, 2020 at 07:23 AM about the 2016 RAM 1500 Express Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I have my ram 1500 2016 4x4 express running
on e-85 gas but I don’t see any sign for flex fuel
only on my yellow gas cap (e-85/gasoline) my
question is how do I know if my truck can run
regular gas

The yellow gas cap indicates it is a FFV (Flex Fuel) vehicle. So you can absolutely run it on regular gas.

Not only can you use E85 or regular gas, you can use any combination of the two.

Crack open that owner's manual.

I had the same question for my 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 classic. The cap is yellow and says the same as above. Unfortunately, my owners manual doesnt say anything about E85 fuel. From my understanding, E85 has 85% Ethanol and 15% gas. Would running anything less void the warranty and cause the fuel system to fail eventually?

You can run anything from pure gas to E10, E15 or E85 in a flex fuel truck.

That's good to know, I just bought this truck on Carvana and I dont have any gas stations with E85 fuel, haha

E85 gives poor fuel economy. You would have to do the math to see if the lower prices saves money or not.
