2016 Ford Focus hatchback replace transmission

It looks like you didn’t research the vehicle for common problems before you bought it. Never take your used vehicle back to the dealership as they are only in it for your money. A good transmission shop can give you a better price and with a warranty if you decide to go that way. As far as something else happening, anything is could quit at anytime as these are not the most reliable vehicles out there. As far as getting another vehicle, it depends on how you sit financially. Can you take a big loss on this one? As it is now it not worth much.

In average condition, the car's probably worth the seven grand you'll spend on the new transmission. You could go to a transmission shop and get a rebuilt. It will likely cost three grand. Why would you even consider all this work on that car? You were defrauded by the seller, and if a dealer, I'd ask him to take the car back and report him to your state's Bureau of Automotive Repair. If this was a private seller, you're stuck. Having a mechanic review any used car you're serious about buying would have avoidee all this trouble. I only hope you got the car free.

If it were me, I'd refill the transmission and go from there. You might have gotten lucky and the leak repair, filter change, and fluid refill might fix it. DO NOT, under any circumstances, let them flush the transmission! They can flush the fluid cooling lines and the transmission fluid cooler in the radiator, but NOT the transmission itself!! Having any transmission flushed often does more harm than good!! If it turns out the transmission is ruined get another estimate from a reputable transmission shop. Be mindful of the warranty you'll get from both the Dealer and the independent shop. The vehicle is 7 years old so, unless it has a ton of mileage on it, I think it's worth fixing. Hope that helps!
