Why is this strap hanging from undercarriage?

Asked by Guru9RZJMN Jul 20, 2022 at 11:31 AM about the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox LT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

There's a thin white plastic strap hanging from the bottom of my 2015 Equinox.
Not sure if this is concerning or is just a piece of stuck debris. It stretches
across the splash shield.

My Equinox doesn’t have anything like this, I would get up under there and see if it is actually attached to anything. Most anti static straps are made of neoprene and attached to the body and trimmed so they just touch the ground.

Looks like a wire tie someone put on the vehicle to hold something up. Best to have it looked at and fixed correctly! Whatever is being held up might be important, like the gas tank, for example! Hope that helps! Jim

Like others have said, remove it, but maybe someone was trying to tie up the splash shield as the fastens rusted away and or missing. You will have to crawl under to inspect.
