Shifter service light

Is it still under warranty? 36,000 miles? If so its covered. If they give you the run around go to another dealer.. Or call Jeep warranty and place a claim.

Had this exact problem. They told me there were 2 components. The trim bezel and harness. They said our Platinum Wrap extended warranty from Compass would only cover the electrical and the not the aesthetic. I said if it is just aesthetics why would it need replacing? I said are you telling me the plastic its self is actually broken? To which the guyat the dealership answered yes. I asked him how he knew that? They hadn’t taken anything apart. I pressed him how do you know that this piece of plastic is broken. To which he admitted they did not. The other guy admitted they usually break the connecting ends when they remove the old one. At that point they got back on with the insurance company and they took care of it. I was only out my deductible at that point. Lesson learned. Read the contract of the entended warranty. Mine was called the Platinum wrap. It says in the contract that it covers all cost associated repair. And under the exclusions it says only parts associted with normal wear and use, and only if they exceed the normal amount of wear. Basically nonnsense. I mean this is a non moving non electrical piece that I have no interaction with and is broken in such a way that it can not be seen and you don’t think you are supposed to cover that part? Under which part of the extended warranty contract? In the end they paid the shit.

Same problem. Does anyone know the cost of repairs?

Ours came on twice, so we took it in. $375 plus tax is what our delear is charging since it is not covered under any warranty.

I have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude, recall on wiring harness was done at dealership... did not fix flashing odometer or panel of lights on shifter... ?? Hmmmmm. Not sure what they fixed.

All of my shifter lights just went on this morning. It said to service the shifter. I turned the vehicle off, then back on again and it went away. Should I expect this to happen more often now? Vehicle is just about to hit 36,000 miles and I have a lease on the vehicle.

@Stevep72- Yes, the light will come back on. I had the same problem for two years. It will go off for about a week or two, then it will come back on. I took mine into the dealership Monday and they fixed it (my car was still under warranty and it covered the cost to fix my bezel).

Having the service shifter blues!!!! How safe is the car for highway driving? What happens if I don't have my 2015 jeep Cherokee serviced? Anybody know a good mechanic???

I have the same problem the service shifter message came on and all the lights on the shifter were on. Turned the car off it went away. I took my 2018 Jeep Cherokee with 17300 miles on it to the dealer. They said there is a service bulletin out for this problem. They need to replace the bezel and wiring.

I went in today for the THIRD time, because I was 600 miles over my warranty, they were not going to cover it. The dealership told me that there are two parts to the replacement - an upper part, and a lower part, both have two different part numbers. The first two times, they replaced the top piece, and today they told me that this time, it was the bottom piece, and not going to cover it. I was told it was going to cost me $709.00. I spoke to the manager who told me he would replace they top part and put it under a warranty, and that should give me some time before it happens again. He made off like he was doing me a favor. From now on though, I'll be having to pay for it out of my pocket.... I'll be looking to trade it in.

They need to replace the bezel and wiring (same thing as GURU8JCMX) Time limit out on my Jeep warranty but I purchased an extended warranty when I bought the Jeep, so it's covered with $100 deductible.
