Engine Shutters When filled With Gas

Asked by Guru1K21G Oct 28, 2020 at 06:34 PM about the 2016 Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback

Question type: General

2016 Ford Fiesta, I notice when I fill up with gas, the engine shutters briefly.
Only when the tank gets filled. Today I let it idle for a few minutes when I went
in to get the receipt, came out and it had stalled. Any ideas? Thanks.

I've heard of a vent tube that should be closed when fueling but it remains open and floods the engine . Some type of solenoid or something .

Thanks. If it floods the engine, wouldn't it shutter longer? This doesn't last long. Maybe topping off with fuel could also be an issue? Just a thought.
