2016 suburban seat automatically unlatches when I shift into park
One of our second row bucket seats automatically
unlatches and flops down or flies forward even if it
had been securely locked. It seems to happen when
I put the car shift in park. Has anybody else noticed
this? Anyway to make it stop auto unlatching and
flying forward every time I park?
Somehow I doubt the seats are really securely locked. Examine the latch to see if something is stuck in it. Since your Chevy is under warranty take it in to the dealer.
The solution is obvious - only stop when going in reverse. (j/k)
KenF - haha! Full_of_Regrets - thanks, I checked and when I set them up I hear the click that it latched into place, and pull back and forth on it and it's secured. It only unlatches when I shift into park (from a stopped position) - not when I'm slowing down or anything like that, where you would expect it to flip forward....
There is no connection to the seat latch from the gear lever. Just because you hear a click does not mean it is fully latched. I would inspect the latch itself and operate it while looking at the latch. Also check the latch point.
Hi, LoganNation, I’m having the same problem with my 2017. Did you figure out the problem? I have automatic fold and tumble bucket seats. When I put the car in park, I can actually hear the power/electronic noise associated with pushing the power release button and then the seat releases. It’s just the passenger side second row bucket seat. In the manual, it says you can only use the power release feature when the car is in park, so there must be some connection between the two. Thanks.

I had this same problem on our 2016 GMC Suburban. It started right after having it detailed. Each time it was put in park, the middle right seat would unlatch. The seat release switches for the middle row, located in the cargo area, were jammed in. I popped them out and reinstalled them properly. Now it works fine.

It's very simple. Just take a pocket knife or a small flat head screwdriver and pry out the retainer that holds the switches. Once it is out, you will probably notice one of the switches partially unseated. Make sure both switches are snapped in completely on all sides. Then snap the switch retainer back into place.
