"Hood Ajar" Warning Comes On For No Reason

Asked by Dave Sandy May 02, 2016 at 06:37 PM about the 2016 Ford Edge Titanium AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a new 2016 Ford Edge Titanium with all available options.  At
about the 2 week mark the "Hood Ajar" warning would sound.  We took it to
the dealer where they told us they would have to order a new sensor.  Wen
back a week later and had it installed.  Within day.... "Hood Ajar".  Took it to
another dealer.  They could seem to replicate the problem.  Did some
tightening.
A few days later... "Hood Ajar".  Anyone else having this issue or do I have
a Lemon?

It's not a lemon, Ford dealers are having a difficult time finding competent people - technicians. Call the Ford customer service number and inform them of your Dealer experience.

They have been talking with Ford. Ford told them to replace the hood latch since the sensor was already replaced once and it works. Hopefully this will fix it. Other than that glitch... the Edge Titanium is amazing and the Sync 3 very user friendly. Much better than the My Ford Touch I played with in my son's 2015 Explorer Sport.

NEVER talked to Ford, just a Ford dealer not the same. "We took it to the Ford dealer where they told us they would have to order a new sensor. Went back a week later and had it installed. Within day.... "Hood Ajar". Took it to another Ford dealer." Regards, just have to read carefully.

To clarify... the "they" in the comment above was the Dealer who has been talking with Ford Corp. It was Ford Corp. who told dealer to replace the hood latch. Thought it was clear. Sorry for the confusion.

I have the exact same issue going on with my 2015 Ford Edge. It has so few miles it is like brand new. First the dealer tightened the hood latch, then they replaced the latch then they tightened the hood hinges more and nothing has changed. It is very frustrating to have this go on and on and on. I am thinking Ford is selling lemons with the Ford Edge.

My 2015 Fiesta is having the same problem and occasionally the car alarm goes off, I only have 21,900 miles on the car. The dealer I took it to neglected to tell when appt. was set up they will need the car all day. I left and I can't afford their diagnosis price then parts. I have purchased many Fords, I am rethinking my options.

I am having the same issue with my 2015 low km Ford Edge. Why is there no recall or fix in place?
