Is it worth replacing the engine in our 2016 Ford Fusion?

Our mechanic said cylinder #4 was mis-firing after scanning the car.

We took it to the dealer.  They said it would not hold pressure, so they
replaced the water pump (we did not have an issue with the water pump).  
After replacing the pump, and it held pressure, they road tested, and the
engine light did not come back on.

They charged us $1001.90 and said it was fixed.

Three weeks later, the engine light came on again and we had it scanned
again, and the same issue came up.

We took it back to the dealer, they checked it out, and this time around they
said the engine had a crack.  

Is it worth replacing the engine?  Also, if we do replace the engine, shouldn't
the dealer refund our $1001.90 for not fixing the car?

First try to get Ford to replace the engine. If that does not work you can compare the cost of a new engine to the cars value. You will never get your money back so write that off.

Get a second opinion! There are several things that can cause a misfire code. A bad spark plug, bad ignition coil, or bad fuel injector are some of the less disastrous things. You can Google Ford's Customer Service number and call them with your VIN. Check out carcomplaints.com and see if there's a recall. Also ask ask Ford if there's a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) from Ford about this! Good luck to you!! Hope that helps! Jim

Sounds like u got the short end of the stick… with this deal… so I would call Ford +1 (800) 392-3673 and bitch about it because $1000 for a water pump on that car is way too much… it’s 3 bolts holding it in and it’s not in a difficult spot
