Bought a 2015 Rogue used for my sister.  While
transporting it from Utah to Nevada it became very
apparent that the heater is not working on the drivers side
and therefore the rear passenger area. Been researching
since discovering the issue and the only 2 things i can find
relate to the A/C and that is to replace the Evap Sensor
(which i cant find ANYTHING showing where this item is
and I can not find a replacement part) second thing is
potentially blender door/actuator but again struggling to
find the part as well as location of the item (have a general
idea of location... But come on nissan) haven't brought it to
the dealership as all the complaints i have seen have hit a
wall with the dealership.

just changed the evap sensor on my mothers car and her heat is working great again. The nissan part # is 27723-4BUOA (that's a letter O before the A not a zero) Nissan dealerships wanted me to wait forever to get part and charge way to much. the same part from rock auto was $13.43 plus shipping, came in 4 days. On that site it's call the "heater core temperature sensor" but I've seen it called for different names for same part (go figure). It take a bit of becoming a contotionist to remove and replace, but it's about 5 minutes. Here is the link to a discussion on it. scoll down and you'll see where some guy took pictures. It's as simple as removing small panel by drivers feet, twisting (1/2 turn CCW) unplugging old, popping on new one, and you're done. Hope this helps. I have a 2017 Nissan rogue ,My Heather doesn't work ...I have the same problem driver side only blow cold air and back ..the passenger side work good .. I changed the evap Heather sensor and the same problem any idea how to fix it..

My wife has a 2015 rogue and cold air blowing only on driver side but everywhere else is heat and changed the evap sensor still blowing cold. What else?

Mine is sporadic if I switch from ac to heat it blows cold air but of i start on heat it works.

This sounds like a blend door actuator issue. I’m having the same problems. Easy fix in most vehicles. Just figuring out how to get to it on the passenger side now.

I had this problem on a 2014 Rogue SV 3Row. Blows hot air on passenger side, cold air on drivers side and no matter what you do with climate control, nothing changes drivers side. At the time of posting this, there wasn’t a lot of online help with this topic nor any useful YouTube videos that actually identified the actuator. For my vehicle symptoms this IS a blend door actuator issue and not the heater core temp sensor. The blend door actuator (a.k.a. heat flap door motor; HVAC air door actuator, HVAC mix door actuator, HVAC temperature door actuator, stepper motor) is located on the drivers side behind the plastic floor vent on my model (2014 Rogue SV). Remove the panels under the steering wheel to ease access. There are two screws holding the floor vent director. See pictures below. For that rear screw, not a lot of room to get a screw driver in there so I used a 90 deg drive Phillips. An offset will also work but it’ll still be a pain. I guess you could drop the pedal linkages to get access but that seems a little unnecessary. Once that floor vent duct is removed, you have access to the blend actuator. Two screws to remove it, disconnect the connector. I tested the one I removed by connecting it and watching the spline move as I cycled through temperature using climate control. The spline did move but the solenoid was so weak so stopped moving the door actuator prematurely upon any force encountered. The part number for my vehicle’s actuator through Nissan is 27749-4BU0A at nissanusa.com or https://nissan.worldoemparts.com/ for about $20. I was not able to find this part anywhere else except used on eBay. I uploaded a series of pictures below in the hope someone will find it useful since there aren’t many resources or pictures online. While I was waiting to get a new actuator, I manually moved the blend door to full heat using an Allen wrench and controlled the heat by closing vents, fan control, and climate control on passenger side.

@Dr_J_ described exactly the situation that people with Nissan Rogue WITH a large display and 2 zone climate control system have, those that have been produced before 2017 (or before 2018). There is a photo of my 2015 SV premium (or plus) nissan rogue from the driver side. Though motor/actuator is fine, it's something inside and I am looking to completely solve this, but seems that I either should look for entire new heater or disassemble the current one and use 3d printer for some small plastic part...

My mobile mechanic changed both the sensor and actuator and it still did not fix the problem. I called Nissan Consumer Affairs because if so many are having this issue (my 2015 Rogue only has 42k miles) then Nissan should require a recall to fix it. My Nissan dealership said the problem is the HVAC box assembly (AC blower assembly) is stripped, part # 272104BU1A and that the cost to fix is $2995. This issue is also a safety one as it causes the defroster not to work as well. Everyone should be calling Nissan Consumer Affairs to complain - get them to fix it!!! 800-647-7261. I've opened a case and am waiting to hear if they will cover the cost.

I have a 2018 Rogue with 16K miles. I think my problem is electrical even though Nissan said the HVAC box is stripped as well. My driver's side was blowing cold was taking it to Midas for a third opinion then both sides were hot (like they should be). about 3 weeks later, driver's side back to cold. I came across another forum where a person gave specific instructions on using vent only and fan only...fan only required you to remember to ensure to cycle the A/C on and off due to the compressor activation with front+foot or front only being on as it causes the A/C compressor to come on and the light on the A/C button does not, so you are intervening by turning the A/C on and off...I tried it on mine and it didn't work. I saw this post on the electric devices and trying to figure out how to pull the panel off. I also called Nissan to file a complaint. At 16K miles for a 5 year old car...even my other mechanic said at 16K miles, this should NOT be happening.

Update: Nissan called today...I need to pay for an appointment with the dealership to get an update on the diagnostics for the car. I argued they should be paying for the appointment AND fix, but I'm going to go ahead and pay another $200+.

@josh, I have an appointment scheduled for 28 Feb with the dealership. Nissan headquarters called me today to ask where I was with everything...I left a message. I have told my rep everything I said above explaining there seems to be no ONE solution to this issue. Have you tried what I mentioned above with turning the A/c on and off just to experiment? It's on another forum for Nissan out there. Here are quick instructions that I took from it: I run vent only, or fan only all the time without the A/C compressor running. For vent only, you want to first turn off the system, then push MODE instead of adjusting the fan speed. The system remains off but the vent actuators will work. Recirc must be off and vehicle must be moving at a decent speed like on the freeway to push air through the cowl and in to the vehicle, no air will pass if vehicle is stopped or moving too slow. Adjust the temperature all the way down to let cooler outside air in, or up if you want to heat the air. For fan only mode, just remember one thing. Everytime you cycle through a mode with front defrost or front defrost + foot, the A/C compressor will be switched on. When you cycle out of any front defrost mode, A/C compressor can remain on. You will need to: - first pick a mode that is not front defrost or defrost-foot - turn off recirc to draw outside air mix in - cycle A/C on and back off (to turn off compressor) - then adjust fan to your liking - turn temperature up for heat or down to draw cooler air in The system is on at this point (fan is on) but compressor is off. If you cycle modes and go through front defrost or defrost-foot, then you need to cycle the A/C on and off again.

@josh I did, the technician has disassembled the driver's side plastic panel to the right of driver's legs and customly repaired the "hole" where small motors/actuators are inserted into the HVAC block. Another option was to use the HVAC block from the restyle vehicle also with 2-zone climate control. Odd, that you have something similar with the 2018 vehicle, the hvac block there should have this issue fixed. P.s. excuse me for wording, I am not well acknowledged in some specific words for vehicle repairing.

I am experiencing this problem as well on my 2018 Rogue. The driver side seems to get stuck either hot or cold and passenger side is fine. I wasn't able to get heat on drivers side which made it dangerous for defrosting in winter. I kept pushing buttons and flipping the vents I finally got heat if the AC button was on on both sides. Now the weather is warm and I need cold air. My passenger side is blowing cold at 60 degrees and drivers side stuck on heat like really hot from winter time but the thermostat is set on 60.

I have the same problem, driver's side no heat. 2018 Rogue SV Talked to Nissan service, was told it may cost up to $2500.00 to repair, depending on what the cause of the problem is. Since it is out of warranty, I'll just buy a sweater... ha ha

@Guru971ZSN @NissanRogue2018Rhode'sGarage To tell the story short I could suggest you come to Ukraine to repair it for max $200 but this wouldn't sound like a good plan today:) My technician (not the official Nissan service center, just a guy who handles complex tasks with vehicles) told that if we are about to change the HVAC block - we should empty the AC system too. I've found a photo what they should disassemble to get the job done in the result

I am having the same problem with my 2017 Rogue SV (50,000 miles). I took it to the dealership and they quoted me $3000 because I need to replace the entire Heater / AC Unit Assembly. Has anyone had ANY luck with this? Seems like a super common problem... how is there no recall?

Has anyone had luck with permanently disabling the blend door? I really don't care about duel zone heating and cooling, I just want hot air on both sides.

Had my appt today, same answer (no surprise). However, technician mentioned this issue with the blend door actuator stripping out is common among Korean made models (VIN starts with KN, US made is !N). I will wait to hear from Nissan main customer service to see if they will pay for the replacement. However, even if they do, I explained if this happens regularly and it's not being fixed with another material replacment and it's happening on models since 2014 (from what I have read) and it;s not the ONLY cause for the problem - NISSAN has a big problem in my view. Normal maintenance I can understand, but if, in 32K miles I have the same problem and need the same repair again...THAT is a problem where NISSAN is replacing the same part time after time due to the issue. We will see what NISSAN decides. I know that NO vehicle is made perfect and there is normal wear and tear, but multiple customers with the same or similar problems is definite RECALL with a more permanent fix associated.

Update: I took my 2018 Rogue in again to Nissan for $200+ to look at things. It took a couple of weeks and then the dealership called saying they will pay FULL price to replace the defective air box. However, they wanted $249 for 7 oil changes. I decided to take it. Here's the thing too, my VIN start with KN (Korean) and a tech said the Korean models have this air box problem. I suggested using a US built air box for a replacement as long as it's more of a "permanent" fix. Nissan placed the order in for the air box and it comes down to praying for a good replacement. They gave me 12K miles or 12 months once it's installed. Nissan also informed me for the 2018 models as they had a big demand for them, so the production expanded to Japan and Korea to pump out the vehicles. I told them I get that, but when you have models dating back to 2014 to (I believe) 2019 with this problem and there is NO one solution to it (I tried the procedure found online with turning things on in a certain order including AC on then off to turn it off), they NEED to fix this. They said headquarters waits for so many complaints before they recall. I feel this needs a recall. Side note: Headquarters Nissan called me the day after the dealership and offered me...1/2 price paid for the install. Since the dealership is independently owned, they can offer what they want. I told Headquarters no thank you. I'm now waiting for a call from the dealership on when they expect the part to arrive to install. This has been a bit of a battle, but about $700 later (2 dealership visits and 1 oil change package), I'm hoping I get what I needed.

UPDATE: Nissan Consumer Affairs declined to fix the problem - the cost from the dealership is $3000. Everyone needs to keep calling Nissan Consumer Affairs to lodge a complaint. Once they reach a certain number they will issue a recall but it needs to be A LOT of complaints so spread the word!! Also, file a complaint with the National Highway Transportation Safety Assoc. www.nhtsa.gov - so they can look into it as well and put pressure on Nissan to issue a recall. I have contacted lawyers but they won't start a case until they see more numbers of complaints - they also are more interested in a case if a death is involved which is horrible. This IS A SAFETY issue as the HVAC unit affects the defrosting function. To not be able to see while driving during a dangerous storm means someone could die and they should deal with this!!!! There should not be a cost to Nissan owners when these cars are fairly new. I have a 2015 Rogue but it only has 43k miles so it's like a newish car and shouldn't have a worn out HVAC box. Make the calls, fill out the NHTSA form, get them to hear us!!!

Cara and Guru97z i was just told i need a Hvac box assy $3,194. Mine would work fine and after driving for 30 minutes to an hour the fan would get weaker and weaker, so one day i pulled out the cabin filter and my evaporator was frozen solid. So after playing with the difference settings i now have it on front vents on Circulate with A/C on all the time with the filter out. So far it hasn't frozen up again and i can put the fan on the speed i want and any temp i want. No way in hell i can pay 3 grand. One last note, if i put it on defrost and it goes straight to air flow the evaporator still freezes. So can y'all post the phone numbers we need to be calling to raise hell. And for anyone else the price for the part is $1500. Labor is the other $1500 because the book says 10 hours and they have to pull the whole dash.

I can't wrap my head around what could be in the box that would take out you're whole ac system. If the video i posted is the problem all i can say id i am Amazed that it comes down to a simple plastic piece. I will tell you if i had a 3-D printer i would make a male to female adapter and glue it in place and some screw spacers to make it all squared up or a full flush spacer. I also thought about taking a dremel and cutting the lip off the white cracked piece and trimming around it and making some kind of sleeve to slip over it and glue it in place to keep the white piece inside the box from disintegrating or shattering and doing all this without having to pull the whole dash or giving those S.O.B's a penny. Oh well just thinking out loud and outside the box. What do y'all think?

Update. This guy reached out to me and i got the email notification but i can't find it on here but i want to say Thank you. We might have a fix. The link he sent me and i am posting it here has a nother guy who did the 3D printer thing and it looks great. A CarGurus user (GuruDZFFRG) answered a question you are following: "Heater not working on drivers side, works on passenger side. ". Having the same issue in my 2017 Nissan Rogue. Purchased the parts Chris 3D printed. Installed them today. For some reason, it's still not working. When changing from 60 degrees to 90 degrees, the slip gear spins / slips (about 2-3 times), but the new receiving spine doesn't spin. The blend door also doesn't do anything. I'm assuming the receiving spine piece is also supposed to spin, which makes the blend door open / turn? Photo 1 shows the entire setup. Photo 2 (blue arrow) shows the part does turn / slip. Photo 2 (red arrow) shows the part that does NOT turn. Photo 3 (green arrow) shows the blend door, which does nothing. Does anyone have advice?
