2001 ford escape Alternator replacement car doesn't start

replaced my alternator yesterday now my car won't start. when i put the key
in nothing happens there is no clicking sound if i try to start it, the doors
don't lock or unlock if i try it with the key or manually by hand.

Everything checks out. When i turn the headlights on there is a clicking noise coming from the fuse box.
