escape doesn't work in any gear or in 4x4. runs fine just stopped pulling itself down the road. fluid and linkage are good can't afford to replace tranny again any other possibilities HELP

01 ford escape xlt v6. was driving down the road when it just stopped pulling. no
noises or vibrations rpm went up and momentum went down. have been told it could
be torque converter or maybe a solenoid. can't afford to replace again any advice
much appreciated
