will an engine from a 2006 ford escape 3.0 v6 fit in a 2001 ford escape 3.0 v6

The engine will fit but there will be some minor modifications. 2001 to 2004 are the same. 2005 to 2006 are slightly different. but close. check out escape city.com for more info.
