Does the PZEV hurt the performance of the engine compared to one without?

A partial zero emissions vehicle is a vehicle that has zero evaporative emissions from its fuel system, has a 15-year (or at least 150,000-mile) warranty on its emission-control components, and meets SULEV tailpipe-emission standards (Wikipedia). I do not believe this has a negative impact on performance and adds a bit of longevity to its emissions systems.

Thank you for your answer. I've never owned a VW before except for an old beetle a long time ago. I have always heard they are more expensive to maintain and repair than a Toyota or Honda. The 2015's look pretty nice though.

When the recommended scheduled maintenance items for the VWs are adhered to religiously, they are every bit as reliable as the Japanese cars. VWs also carry with them a heritage of engineering and innovation second to none. Additionally, they are one of the few car manufacturers today that produce vehicles that are as comfortable for me at 6'5" as they are for my wife at 5'0". Engineering complexity has increased in all manufacturers products...it's hard to say that one is more or less expensive to maintain (under $30K price). Primary drivers for cost of ownership now are warranties, fuel economy, and resale value.

Has anyone looked into Subaru??? They have pzev and lower cost of maintenance...their parts are more affordable than VW...and longevity is great!!!!

I would say we have to be very careful about PZEV vehicles , it still heat engine with an co2 emission. its not an electric car vehicles with electric engine with zero emission. PZEV still use fossil fuel gas with the heat engine its very misleading the label Partial zero emission vehicles.
