It's difficult to answer that...without knowing your cost per mile, (stated in your lease agreement) over the allotted mileage. Values can be anywhere from 7¢ to over 18¢'s per mile. For Example...twenty five thousand miles @ twelve cents....is $3000.00 in fee's, plus reconditioning, fees, etc.

It’s 20 cent / mile. So it would be around 5000 + I replaces the 4 tires and brake pads which costed me around 2000. So it’s like 7000 I will have to let go off . If I plan to purchase, it’s around 40k is what they are quoting. . Any suggestions?

Do the math on the payment and then check the value of the car on Edmund's or the Blue Book. If the residual value to buy it after the lease is less than what it is worth you might want to buy it.

Wow, cut your losses now, sell the money pit, and just go buy another, more reasonable car.

Leasing a car and going way over the mileage limit is not a good thing to do. It is your fault as you knew what the mileage limit was when you leased it. Buying it is likely the best thing to do depending on the residual value. My guess is the residual value is about equal to the buy out price. Also keep in mind, depending on where you live, there will likely be a purchase fee and sales tax will apply. 40 grand will likely be 45 grand before it is all over. This was an expensive lesson.

Thank you all. Iam deciding to return the car and eat up the 5k and learn to never lease a car :)

Leasing a car is not necessarily a bad thing, but you have to have some idea how many miles you will need. I have leased 3 of them and not had a single issue with miles or wear and tear. Of course I have a pretty good idea how many miles per year I will be driving. If you have any dings, dents or interior damage you will have another rude awakening.
