Side Detection Not Working

When I first got my car the side detection was working. About several months ago there were a big snow storm and my side detection module has not worked since. What can i do to fix this problem? When I turn the key on my car it says service side detection system. What can be the problem and how do I fix it without going to the dealer? I enjoyed the side detection because it save me so many times.

The warning can come on because a side detection sensor is covered in mud. I believe the sensors are in the sides of the rear bumper or just in front of it. Check these to see if it's debris. If so, knock it out with a hose and this will probably fix it. If not, it's a bad sensor and you'll have to replace it. It's not too difficult to do.

The sensor is part of the problem for you. The other is that after replacement it has to be reprogramed and that's not something a novice can do. First, never buy a used sensor. You could buy a sensor for under $200, install it "correctly," and have a mechanic program it, but you're probably saving only a hundred bucks. Have it done right

Just like ed said module was obstructed. Make sue snap back in clip or will slide in bumper.
