Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Im a female with limited.mechanicl ability. My 1997 C1500
5.7L 4wd Suburban cranks but wont start. The background
on it is thistles vehicle was awarded in my divorce but my x
would not give me the key so after 1 year of not driving it. I
had someone hotwire it. Then I had to replace the fuelpump
assembly, filter. It started up and it was running good. Well
that's when the person that fixed it decided he was going to
make me a key and it would be easier to start, well now it
cranks but wont start. We checkvthebplug wires when he
took off the ignition coil wire it was wet so we replaced
that, cranks but wont startcand when I turn the key off it
sounds like its trying to start again. My first question is; I
read that the key has a rod on it that activates the coil to
make spark, is that true and if so if I go b ask to starting it
with a screwdriver will it run?

the key has a transponder in it that signals the computer to allow the engine to run , try the old key , It sounds like your " mechanic " doesn't know what they're doing find someone else that does .
