Lazy bmw 318i

Hi . I recently went to view a 318i as it is ny dream
car .. however when I test drove it it was as lazy as
a Toyota 1300 didn't want to pick up speed I took it
all the way up to 7000rpm to see what the
launched was like but  it didn't want to launch
properly  what can it be

The 318 isn't a fast car. That's the smallest engine offered in the US for the E30, it was meant more for economy than performance. If you're looking for more power, look for a 325i and build it up a little.

In defense of the 318i, I had an 84 and it was very good as far as power, you just have to use the gears more than a larger engine. The 1.8 liter engine is very high performance and it revs high so it makes up for it's small displacement and still gets good gas mileage around 26MPG. I had a 235e a low revving higher torque engine and it did very well also. The mighty little 318i was well worth driving and a very durable car if you treated it right.
