Same here on my 16. Noticed that the actuator clicks continuously until I press the door lock button on the fob. Took it to ford and no help there.

07/22/2019: I have a 2016 Fusion SE and the trunk started opening on its own last week. It popped open while I was at work and a maintenance person called me about it, then today it just happened when I was driving it!! WTH? I had to pull over to close it before all my things started blowing and falling out on the road. Seems to be an issue based on all the searches I see. What did you all do to resolve? Any luck? Thank you!

I have a 2018 Ford Fusion with the trunk opening by itself. It only happens when I use the number keypad. The mechanics could not re-create the problem.

2016 fusion hybrid Titanium, I got an alert a couple of times telling me my trunk was open, got out & checked and it was not even unlatched. Today, however, it opened while my vehicle was in motion. Guess I am headed to the dealership tomorrow!

Have a 2015 Ford Fusion SE. Truck pops open randomly also. Have taken it to our local dealership and they were unable to help or provide and solutions. Wish I knew how to file a complaint. We are having to take our car in for a 3rd recall repair. Guess it is time to trade it in.

I was having this problem. The trunk release button above the license plate was corroded and would work as normal. When pulling old one out the trunk latch was clicking when I got it unplugged it stopped. Ordered a new one 20 dollars on amazon, just put it in with dielectric grease and silicone around the opening to keep water from getting to it. I'm going out on a limb but am willing to bet it will fix the problem.

I a having the same problem. Everyone needs to log this with the NHTSA. Until there are enough formal complaints, Ford will not take any formal action. Getting more people will get Ford to do a voluntary recall, or force the NHTSA to look into it further and potentially force a recall.

I did my part and reported the issue to NHTSA hopefully everyone else will as well.

My Ford Fusion 2016 trunk randomly opens itself about 4 times a day. Ford Dealer here says just bring it in.

My 2014 Ford Fusion would unlock and lock randomly as well as the trunk popping open while driving, I came to the conclusion that it was the touch keypad. Water can get around the seal and short the circuit board. Then, between the sun and rain makes it go crazy. I ended up just taking off the door panel and disconnecting the keypad. I haven't had the issue in months now. Everything works fine after disconnecting the keypad

I started having this problem as well and the battery in my car was over five years old. So I bought a new battery for it and installed it, so far it seems to of been the problem. So if anybody else still has this issue, check how old your batteries. It just may be low-voltage issue and we all know electrons go haywire when there is low voltage

I had a hyundi elentra tht did this, pulled the fuse in the cabin fuse box that went to the tunk actuator, now i got a fusion in Feb and it pops open randomly, while driving, at 2 am, like i need somebody snooping around in my trunk at 2 in themorning. i just had a few expensive items stolen .

You can stop this happening by pulling the appropriate fuse. Unfortunately you can't open the trunk unless you put the fuse back in. Also the fuse box is hard to reach -- it's way back underneath the dashboard (check the owners manual or You Tube).
