you might have a bad ignition modual its not to uncommon for this to break in vw cars take it to the dealer tell them the key wont go in and they will likely replace the cylinder under your cpo warranty no charge.

Removing the plastic steering wheel shroud, (T25 x3) then remove VW ignition switch, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5Bl3mdzLaYc Black plastic piece under spring pressure needs to come out, this piece is the piece that pushes the white plastic piece infront of the key. When this is removed, re-assemble. This same problem plagued my wife’s car, and me as I was dispatched to rescue her. There is a chance replacing all of this with new might fix the issue but removing the un-needed part accomplishes the same end goal, reliability for no cost, and no spray into ignition.

This just happen to me and all I just did was to force the key in by moving the steering wheel. It took me about two minutes but it did work. After that you need to oil the ignition to avoid it to get locked. Hope this help.

After 2 hrs and after reading that a spring was bad or whatever I took the butt end of a pocket knife and tapped it vigorously and boom it worked. Maybe that tapping cause the spring to spring into place. Getting some spray lube and maybe fix permanently!!!!! Yay, I can leave now!!!
