Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2015 Buick Lacrosse.  The trunk button inside the car opens the trunk as it should.  The key fob button will not open the trunk.  Problem and solution???

To open the trunk from outside the vehicle, press and hold "trunk hold" on the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter to unlock all doors, then use the touch pad above the license plate. If equipped with Keyless Access, the trunk can be opened using the touch pad when the RKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft) of the rear of the vehicle......The manual doesn't describe it as a release but more like it unlocks the trunk.

There is no touch pad above the license plate. I have Keyless Access but with the Key Fob and the Trunk Opening Button on the drivers door. The "trunk hold" button on the Key Fob open the trunk only. That is the problem, when you depress the "trunk hold" button it does nothing. It worked yesterday just fine but today it no longer works...

Do your lock/unlock buttons work? The first place to start would be making sure you've got a good battery in your fob.

Buick corrected a problem with the trunks opening with only 1 accidental press of the Trunk Release button on the fob. Since 2015, it takes TWO presses of the button to pop the trunk. Trunk Open button click, wait 1/2 second, click it AGAIN, and you will find the trunk lid will open.

We had the opposite problem on our 2013 Lacrosse. Lock the car, put the fob down on a table in the entrance hallway, and accidentally touch the Trunk Release button. Trunk pops wide open IN THE DRIVEWAY! We paid to have the relay in our car changed to the new version to correct this. We now walk up to the car, click Trunk Release, CLICK IT AGAIN about 1/2 second later, and the trunk rises perfectly.

I had the same happen to me, it's a proximity issue. Leave the remote away from the car and the trunk will remain locked(try to manual open with button). When you are close to your car you do not need to pop the trunk or un lock the car with the remote, simply press the trunk button and it opens. I hope this clears up some issues. Regardz

My husbands keyless opener kept opening the car while in his pocket from activity. I reduced the power of the remote by wrapping it once with thin aluminum foil. It still will start the car but the trunk no longer opens at a long distance.

The hook inside the trunk lid is a magnet for getting caught on stuff like straps attached to heavy bags. The lid will not lift when it's impeded. I suggest sawing off the hooky part of the handle. If you happen to lock yourself in the trunk (dumbass) you can still pull the trunk release and let yourself out
