gear shift moves ,does not engage in any geasrs

car starts ,can move into any gear, car will not move. just smooth move from
one gear to another. does the same thing after a couple of starts, then works
fine. Dealership could not recreate the issue and said there were no codes
showing. I went and picked it up this evening. Guess what happened when I put
the car in drive, after getting gas, nothing!

That's a good sign of a worn out transmission. When you put the trans into drive or any other gear, the internal seals leak into adjacent gears, preventing the trans from moving the car. It can happen randomly, as in your case. Time for a trans rebuild.
