Car audio question GMC Jimmy

Asked by Dustin Feb 26, 2014 at 11:55 PM about the 1999 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLE 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 GMC Jimmy. It has the
factory Delco CD player on it. No disc
changer just standard CD player.
Anyway the CD player seems to work
perfectly it turns on changes stations
accepts CDs displays clock and all
that. It just wont produce any sound.
None what so ever. No crack, pop,
static or anything indicating a blown
speaker. Any ideas of what could be
wrong?

The laser eye has most likely failed. Just replace with new player. They're so cheap now. And most of them come with an adapter that will plug right into your existing wire harness. Just make sure that your MUTE button isn't depressed.......

How can that be it when the speakers don't work even when its just on the radio?

Your internal power amp is probably the real culprit. If you have everything except for sound, that would have to be it. Don't waste your time with it. Just pull it and pop in a new one. Much easier than pulling your hair out.
