Timing belt change.

At what mileage reading should the timing belt be replaced on a 2006 Acura MDX ?

The car now has 59000 miles on it.

Have it changed sooner rather than later. If you are going to keep the vehicle I'd have it changed soon. If the belt breaks, you will not be happy.

I think the general consensus is 100k but in your case, NOW! 9 years is a long time for such a mechanically sensitive component of your engine. I recommend finding a trusted, independent mechanic instead of the dealer. Cost to replace timing belt, water pump, serpentine belt, etc should be in the neighborhood of $800. Might be a good opportunity to replace motor mounts and other wear items while everything is opened up.

My only issue with an independent shop would be the parts. Use genuine Acura parts. The timing belt service on my TL was done at an indy shop with 3rd party parts and the water pump failed at 30,000 miles, forcing me to repeat the service(no point in changing the water pump without the belt as labor is the same and the belt is not much over $100)
