02 gmc sonoma no gauges and bad ground

ok so i have a 2002 gmc sonoma 4.3l vortec engine 2WD. My gauges only
work if the headlights are on. I have a ground wire strap on the driver side
firewall its connected at the firewall but someone ripped it in half , so its not
leading to nothing and i have no clue where it leads to .
