A/C and defroster

Asked by GuruHLWXW Jul 19, 2019 at 07:52 AM about the 2014 Dodge Dart Limited FWD

Question type: General

I just noticed that my A/C vents stop blowing when I use the defroster.  There is an option for the ac blowing at my feet while defroster is on.  Is this right?  I am also having an issue with the ac not blowing as cold when i accelerate.

On most cars, when you select "defrost", ALL the cold air is directed up to the windshield. That's normal. You should be able to select a function where the cold air is split between the windshield (defrost) and the middle vents, or the floor vents. Check it out. And on some cars the A/C compressor cuts out for a moment when accelerating really hard. This allows ALL the horsepower to move the car. I would guess that on a smaller car 10% of the horsepower is taken by the A/C.
