Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Anyone have a answer on this, my GMC Envoy has
a rough idle almost like it's going to shut off at at a
red light. And also when I accelerate away from
any stop the oil pressure goes up and my check
engine light starts blinking but only at a higher
speed anytime I hit about 45 MPH, any other time
to check engine light just stays on this problem
just started this morning

You have the I6 engine? Did you recently unhook the battery for any reason? Oil pressure will always rise when you accelerate, this is normal.

Oh, have the code scanned at like an Autozone and report back what the code is. Don't drive it with the check engine light blinking, that's a good misfire.

So cylinder 2 is misfiring mechanic tells me he thinks it's a coil pack that sound about right there anybody

Pretty easy to do it yourself, I can walk you through it if you want. BUT to make sure it's the coil, you'd need a scanner. Basically switch coils with another cylinder and see if the code follows to the other cylinder. If he unhooks the battery and you have idle problems again, report back. It's a $9 fix.

I’m having the exact same problem, did you figure out what it was?

I just changed my coils now it’s idling funny. We had the battery unplugged. How do I fix it? If I turn the knobs on the heat it acts like it’s going to die.

Amanda If you changed the coil packs and your car is still idiling rough then your throttle position sensor is bad

I am having a similar issue, my envoy at idle is running rough. It’s using about a court of oil extra every 5000 miles. When I accelerate it is smooths out but I can’t figure out what’s wrong. Can anyone help

My Envoy does that about every 2 years or so. It's usually a coil pack. In fact, it's usually the #2 coil. I've changed the coil pack myself. Make sure the coil pack seats properly or it will be worse. I'm actually having that same issue right now again.

I'm having similiar. Ended up being power steering pump. and while there, the oil pressure sensor switch was leaking. Great all fixed. Then it acted like the MAP sensor was shot. misfire under load and idle.. etc. i do have a SES light, but code reader will not link suddenly. replaced MAP and all was good. Until it warmed up and the loop closed. I'm still trouble shooting, and hoping now it's a TPS sensor.... FWIW it's always been rough on idle, but rough idle and misfire from sensors are pretty different.... the rough idle went away with the steering pump replace... the misfire is now from either that service, or a sensor. hope that can help someone/anyone... 2005 envoy 4.2l
