Car started on own (keys were in the house) after attempting to attach the negative cable back on battery

Asked by GuruBWLKZ Dec 16, 2018 at 10:31 AM about the 2003 GMC Envoy 4 Dr SLE 4WD SUV

Replaced my alternator, when done we put the positive cable
on the battery with no problem. When I put the negative cable
up to the terminal, there were sparks, the truck honked then
started. The cable was not tightened as I was afraid to move.

Thank You! We figured it out. It also has remote start that was added so now know why car starts on its own once battery is hooked back up.
