what if i buy a car that doesnt work

i know it is buyer beware, but what if i purchase i vehicle and the dealership says they only guarantee that it will pass emissions. But check engine light came on and you cant pass emissions with a check engine light in this state.

Your state probably requires that the dealers sell cars with a current smog certificate. Check your states DMV website.
