How do you tell if my 2014 Subarau impreza 4dr is in Valet Mode?

Although, I think it pretty much operates like the other keys, except that it doesn't have the electronic buttons to alarm the car.. I never use it, because, aside from keeping it as an extra key on my key ring, a hassle, I would NEVER leave this locked in my car.. What's the point? What do you see as the real purpose? If you trust enough to hand over your car to a valet then, you have to trust that they will take care with car while it's in their custody. ALARM: to Disarm the system or set Valet mode. Legacy, Outback, Tribeca: When alarm is activated and you don't have the remote to de-activate, just turn the car on. Impreza, Forester: When alarm is activated and you don't have the remote to de-activate, override by turning key in ignition on-off 3x.

Thanks Markw1952. I bought the car from a non-subarau dealership and they only had one key with it that just had lock, unlock, and Panic. So it sounds like I just don't have the right key to activate the alarm pretty much? does that sound right?

Note-- The dealership can do this for you.. I would be very careful with this as to not cause yourself problems with your keys and resetting the security system on your car... Alarm- Activating and Deactivating the alarm, Valet mode (your dealer can do this for you) To change the setting of your vehicle’s alarm system for activation or deactivation, do the following. 1. To Disarm the alarm, set Valet mode 2. Sit in the driver’s seat and shut all doors, gate, trunk 3. Turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position. 4. Hold down the REAR (UNLOCK) side of the driver’s power door locking switch and open the driver’s door within the following 1 second, and wait 10 seconds without releasing the switch. The setting will then be changed. If the system was previously activated the trip meter screen displays “AL oF” and the horn sounds twice, indicating that the system is now deactivated. If the system was previously deactivated the trip meter screen displays “AL on” and the horn sounds once, indicating that the system is now activated
