transmission problem

Took my car to get a new clutch and rebuild the transmission, because it was slipping. Got it back, drove it and noticed it driving well.  Second day the check engine turns on and gears would shift hard.  Made the car jerk  while it shifted. Any one know what wrong.

I'd take the car back to the shop that did the work, why guess and cause further damage? It could be an electrical connection to faulty work.
