Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 06 Crown Vic. The axle seal blew. Was
told that I may even have to replace the bearing
and the tube. Followed both the Chiltons and the
Haynes. But the issues are
1. They dont show Limited slip.(Car has S spring)
(manuals dont show any S spring).
2. I did everything(I think) I need to do to beable to
push in axle. (Remove the bolt and pin from diff,
unbolted and removed abs, Removed brake
calipers and disk.)
3. I push in the axle and it goes in but the C clip
catches on the S spring thing not sure how to
make it go in more.

Is there something Im missing...

Patience! Two-man job! This one ain't always easy but U can so it. Have helper tap GENTLY inward on axle with small or large sledge hammer while U tap gently on U clip with screwdriver and small hammer with open end of U clip facing toward you and pop it off.

::Update:: ended up doing axle swap. Problem was it had been repaired before. And they used a repair bearing incorrectly so that the axle could not be pushed in as far as normal.

I had the same problem, The axle wouldn't slide in enough to get the c clip out, With me I forgot to remove the ABS bolt and once you remove the bolt holding the ABS in place use a LARGE screwdriver to push the abs 1/2 to 3/4 out, once ya do that the axle will slide in. I know the original question was 3 yrs. ago so this is for anybody else that may have this problem
