Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ugh!  Something broke in cylinder #4, scored wall, no compression, Audi dealer
says total engine loss. New one costs 12k.  Is it worth it?  Car is mint otherwise.
Had 52k on it.  Crying in my beer!  Newer 2014 is about 20k.  What would you
do?

Only 4 years old? I would probably rebuild the engine but you need to compare the cost to what the car is worth.

Shop around as I think you can beat the 12k price. Go to an independent German car mechanic.
