Excess gas consumption and some smoke with ruff idle

Changed my Tps and it runs far better than
before but whenever the Check Engine Light
is OFF it runs very ruff and shuts down...
However when the Check Engine light is ON
it runs but uses plenty fuel and after running
some miles it would hitch but continues to
run...
