what causes a motor not to restart until it cools down after it heats up?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my truck will start with no problem, I can drive it as long as I want but when I shut it off and try to restart the motor it will do nothing ( no slow crank or nothing )  until the motor completely cools off and then it will start back up with no issues.  What is causing this?
