What transfer case shift (shifter) linkage would work for this application?

Asked by dbford Nov 06, 2015 at 09:08 AM about the 1986 Ford F-150 STD Standard Cab 4WD LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1986 F150 4x4 with the 300 l6 4.9 engine, the mazda m5od-r2
manual transmission, and a Borg Warner 1356 transfer case. What I am
trying to find out is what transfer case shift (shifter) linkage would work for
this application? The base plate of the shifter which was on this
transmission before looks like what should be there for the dorman 600-
602 setup but they (dorman) says it will not fit that year. Is this supposed to
have another style and if so what?

If they (being Dormans) are tell You what doesn't fit, They should also tell You what does fit your . Since You have a 86 Ford 4X4, a Borg Warner 13-45 or even the New Process 208 transfer case could fit.
