No oil on oil dipstick

Asked by Guru7MC9L Jun 21, 2020 at 01:31 PM about the 2013 Toyota Camry SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My sister has a 2013 Toyota Camry with over 200K miles and is unable to see
oil on the dipstick.  This is the second time this has happened.  The first time, I
put two quarts of oil in the car.  The second time (3 months later) I did the
same.  There is no visible leak on the ground and no low oil warning light.
We’ve taken it to the dealership and they say there is no leak.  Any ideas were
the oil is going?

At 200K miles, probably the engine is burning it. Worn piston rings and valve seals. After she gets an oil change, have her check the oil each week and add as necessary.

If you check the oil more often it won't get that low. Keep doing it the way you have been and you will need a new engine!

If you are using 0W20 oil try 5W20 oil instead.
